Bontrager Bike Tire: XR2 Team Issue TLR
The XR2's effcient tread pattern helps make it fast rolling by most standards (the exception being hard-core XC racers who might find it slow on hardpack compared with a nano-knobby). Bontrager engineers say the tire is designed for "loose-over-hardpack and/or loamy conditions," and it definitely works well in that stuff.
What's particularly impressive is how it smoothly transitions through the cornering range without numb spots: Whether arcing a wide-open sweeper, driving through a tight berm or navigating a changing-radius turn, the XR2 has impressive limits and provides good feedback. The breakaway point is reasonably predictable. Climbing traction is good; braking traction and stability are very good. One tip: The TLR casing is a bit stiff, so use a few less psi than usual
