Bad Girl 1 by Cannondale
The one-piece handlebar and stem save some weight and provide "better
stiffness for sprinting to that next traffic light," according to
Cannondale. It also makes the cockpit snug, an observation noted by all
of our testers, regardless of their height. The upright position is
slightly uncomfortable on excursions longer than a few miles, but great
for spotting dodgy drivers and clueless pedestrians, and it doesn't
overly detract from the peppy and responsive handling. A Headshok Solo
DL50 Lefty fork and Magura MT2 hydraulic disc brakes round out the
stylish, yet get-outta-my-way attitude, and made it a lot of fun to ride.
Tattoo-like graphics on the blacked-out paint scheme, plus the
nontraditional frame design, nudge this bike into the realm of edgy
fashion accessory. If you pair it with the right outfit, you could park a
Bad Girl outside an after-hours club and bathe in the covetous comments
from the effortlessly cool. The frame references Cannondale's iconic
1990s-era Delta V mountain bike; a city-friendly benefit of the angled
top tube is generous standover clearance, making mounts and dismounts
easy, even if your commuting attire is of the skirt-and-heels variety.
